Glosas de Oro is a project led by the ensemble Barbaroco, offering a sensitive and inventive rediscovery of Spanish Renaissance polyphony.
Rooted in in-depth research into cancioneros and ornamentation treatises, the programme brings the viola da gamba, voice, organ, and percussion back to the heart of a little-known repertoire, revealing its full expressive richness.
Through careful work on historical sources — notably Diego Ortiz’s Trattado de Glosas and the works of Antonio de Cabezón — Barbaroco offers a vibrant and creative interpretation, emphasizing the dialogue between voice and instruments.
In the repertoire developed for Glosas de Oro, the human voice sings texts of rare beauty while conversing with the viols, creating a poignant musical dialogue where emotions are restrained, yet ready to emerge.
This union of timbres and textures, crafted to elevate the human spirit, takes us on a journey back to the 16th century.
With this programme, Barbaroco invites the audience into an intense and refined musical dream — blending historical authenticity with artistic freedom, to cast a new light on the treasures of the Spanish Renaissance.

The ensemble Barbaroco presents a concert dedicated to the musical world of the extraordinary Dutch composer Johannes Schenck (1660–1712).
A contemporary of Marin Marais, this master of the viola da gamba composed primarily for his instrument and for chamber ensembles. His works represent an early synthesis of French, German, and Italian styles, boldly and virtuously exploring the instrument’s possibilities and the major stylistic currents of his time.
The result is a refined and distinctive musical universe, rich in contrasts and character.
To complete the programme in the spirit of the “goûts réunis”, Barbaroco includes works by French composer Jean Barrière, another contemporary of Schenck.
